At the beginning of September, the Czech Optical Cluster took part in a technology mission to the Republic of Korea, organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Seoul under the PROPED programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The Czech Optical Cluster was represented by Petr Přikryl.

The mission also brought together representatives of HiLASE Centre, CRYTUR, Celestia Energy, and THALOR Group. Meetings with Korean partners confirmed strong interest in the Czech innovation ecosystem and highlighted a number of opportunities for cooperation between Czech and Korean companies and research organisations.

Significant potential lies in combining Czech expertise in photonics and laser technologies with Korean strengths in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing. Korea’s participation in Pillar II of Horizon Europe also creates further opportunities for joint research and innovation projects.

We would like to thank the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Seoul for the excellent organisation of the mission and for facilitating valuable contacts with key players in the Korean innovation ecosystem. We also thank all mission participants for their cooperation and professionalism throughout the programme.

The mission may be over, but the real work is just beginning – turning new connections into concrete partnerships, joint projects, and future innovations.
