Supporting schools is an integral part of our activities. The Czech Optical Cluster provided Fort Science Olomouc with 20 sets of Photonics Explorer Kits, or optical kits. These are optical experiments and educational materials for students that make physics, technical education, and science in general much more entertaining. Photonics Explorer Kits are already being successfully used in many European countries. The kits were purchased with contributions from Czech Optical Cluster members ZKW Automotive Engineering CZ s.r.o., Plastic Omnium Lighting, HELLA AUTOTECHNIK NOVA, s.r.o., and Magna Lighting Czech, s.r.o. The Czech Optical Cluster welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with Fort Science and its proven system of school loans.

We are thus responding to demand which shows that some specific and often expensive teaching aids are either unavailable in schools or used sporadically, lying unnecessarily in storage for most of the school year. Fort Science therefore offers schools a system of shared teaching aids.

What exactly is an optical kit?

It is an ideal tool for teaching optics in both primary and secondary schools. Thanks to diverse equipment, students can experiment with various properties of light – from color mixing through diffraction to polarization. The kit not only brings theoretical knowledge closer but also promotes cooperation among children who can discover optics together, step by step. Instructions for teachers and students are also available, facilitating easy and fun work.

How does borrowing work?

You can borrow optical kits free of charge for up to 15 days, with pickup and return during Fort Science opening hours (Mondays by individual arrangement). You just need to check the days in the calendar when you want to borrow the kits and fill in the necessary contact information.
