From April 22–24, 2026, the Czech Optical Cluster participated in the prestigious international trade fair OPIE, which ranks among the most important events in the field of optics and photonics in Asia. The event is traditionally held in Yokohama and attracts a wide range of exhibitors and experts from around the world.
At the joint national pavilion, the cluster was joined by leading Czech companies HiLASE, Crytur, Narran, SQS Vláknová optika, and IQS Nano. The shared exhibition offered a comprehensive overview of cutting-edge Czech technologies in optics, laser systems, precision optomechanics, and photonic applications.
The participation was focused not only on presenting innovations but, above all, on establishing new business contacts and developing international cooperation. Over the course of three days, numerous meetings were held with potential customers, distributors, and research institutions, particularly from Japan, South Korea, and other technologically advanced countries in the region.
The national pavilion was visited by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan, Martin Tomčo, which was greatly appreciated and is seen as a significant recognition of Czech participation at the fair as well as of the presented technological solutions.
There was strong interest in Czech solutions in the field of advanced optical manufacturing, metrology, and laser applications in both industry and medicine. The joint presence at the national pavilion also strengthened the visibility of the Czech optics sector as a whole.
Participation in OPIE once again confirmed that Czech companies and research organizations have much to offer in international competition. It also demonstrated that the Asian market represents a significant opportunity for further growth and export of Czech optical technologies.
In addition to the exhibition itself, representatives of the cluster also took advantage of their stay in Japan for accompanying activities, including networking meetings that helped strengthen international relations.
The Czech Optical Cluster would like to thank all participating companies and partners for representing Czech optics at a world-class level and looks forward to further joint activities in international markets. The Optical Cluster also appreciates the cooperation with CzechInvest in Japan in organizing the pavilion and the overall coordination of the event. We are looking forward to the next edition.
